To celebrate Epiphany here in the South of France we enjoy a delicious cake 'Galette des Rois' which translated means the Cake of Kings.
Today we can enjoy either a flaky pastry filled with delicious almond frangipane or a sweet brioche dough finished with sugar and candied fruits.
Whichever of the cakes you prefer there is the added tradition of hiding a small 'favour' inside of the cake and whoever finds the 'favour' in their slice is then made King for the Day and all cakes are sold with a gold crown to be worn by the King.
This a wonderful tradition here in France and continues feasting long past Christmas.
